"If I have one I suppose I will have to keep it." she said airily, for a moment not paying attention to the other’s body language. Her tone though and the way the room seemed to darken were enough to indicate to Mab that her counterpart was bothered by her words.
"Forgive me.." she said quickly figuring out what was probably the cause of distress, "Do you not… Are you unable to bear children?"
She glanced away as the other spoke, closing her eyes for a moment. The paler Mab seemed to have caught on quickly, though, to the sudden change of mood, and she spoke again.
A faint smile touched her lips, a low, hoarse chuckle escaped her, the sound full of an old pain.
"No." She said simply, harshly. "I cannot." She shakes her head. "Even the one time I thought…perhaps…… My body rejected it." She mutters, anguish showing briefly in her expression at the memory.
"You are fortunate to be able to. A fortunate woman, to have someone who loves you so, too." She sighed.
"Perhaps, though, it’s all a fluke. I suppose you’ll find out when the other returns." An abrupt change of subject. This was not something she particularly cared speaking to anyone, and she certainly had not had any desire to show such a…weakness to her counterpart.
